It was my main raw converter for a few years: now I use DxO Optics Pro, for its excellent optical corrections, but I've not found anything that beats RawTherapee in its rendering of fine tonality.
One advantage of RawTherapee is that uses unbounded, high-precision arithmetic in its pipeline; this avoids clipping and allows for better tonality of highly manipulated images. It also has a nice toolset, and I especially like the CIECAM02 adjustments. All of this is at the disadvantage of being exceptionally slow, but images can be processed in batch after editing, so this ins't as much of a disadvantage as it may seem.
Recently I learned that it's possible to use Adobe's lens profiles in RawTherapee, and I'll have to try that out. Additionally, Raw Therapee is an open-source program that allows users to process RAW image files for free. My main issue with RawTherapee is that it seems that the effects of most if not all of the adjusments can only be seen at a 100% view. I realize that it's wise to zoom in at 100% to see the real effect of whatever adjustment that you've applied, but I also like to see what everything looks like when I have the image filling up the screen. First and foremost, RawTherapee is free and open source. It's available for Mac, Linux, and Windows, which makes it extremely versatile. It's super useful to have a processing interface that supports both standard DSLR files (Pentax Pixel Shift, Canon Dual-Pixel, etc), and non-raw formats like JPEG and TIFF. My favorite part of RawTherapee is the ability for the user to have several different options to utilize to get the possible resolution for the image that you are manipulating. I would not say I dislike RawTherapee but it definitely takes some practice and time getting use to editing my images in order to achieve the enhancements that I am attempting to perform.
