The main issues I face were major formatting changes and heavy system resource usage with OpenOffice.

Does OpenOffice have an email package? If so, can it open an outlook mail database.

Good & rich in features but still not compatible with MS Office files to display the same output in Open Office as they are being displayed in MS Office. Latest MS Office files like docx, pptx and xlsx are not being supported currently.
