<p><strong>Hello dear G2 Icons,</strong></p><p>I am (voluntary, just being helpful) assisting a friend. </p><p><strong>The question at hand is, which new computer (a -latest model- Mac laptop) to acquire. </strong></p><p>Not a overly complex question (one might think). However, while t<span style="color: rgb(85, 85, 85);">aking inventory</span> (like the sane persons we are š„³) <span style="color: rgb(85, 85, 85);">we stumbled upon a "small" caveat in regards to "</span><strong style="color: rgb(85, 85, 85);">Dragon Speech Recognition</strong><span style="color: rgb(85, 85, 85);">".</span></p><blockquote><strong>Context:</strong></blockquote><p>The current "daily driver" is a (pc - non Mac) laptop and is ready for "retirement". The device is approximately 8 years old, <strong><s>runs</s></strong> (<strong>crawls</strong>) Windows 10 (on 4GB RAM, I was like: š³) but most importantly "<strong>Dragon Speech Recognition</strong>", which is used <strong>extensively</strong> (almost daily).</p><p>Any new (2023) laptop (running either Windows or macOS) will obviously make for a better experience. Just for reference, having a Zoom call (on the current laptop) will just, but only just, work, sharing a screen and "frozen" it is.</p><blockquote>I digress, I tend to do that.</blockquote><p><br></p><p><strong>A new</strong> M2 <strong>MacBook</strong> Pro with all bells and whistles (read, lots of RAM, or unified memory as Apple calls it) <strong>checks all</strong> (required - we took inventory - š)<strong> boxes but 1</strong>... </p><blockquote>Dragon Speech Recognition is (unfortunately) "<span style="color: rgb(85, 85, 85);">Windows only". </span></blockquote><p><br></p><p><strong>Parallels to the rescue?</strong> </p><p>Installing Parallels (the version that runs on Apple silicon, the M1 and M2 Mac's) is easy and the same applies to Windows 11 (ARM version required in Parallels on Apple silicon), not difficult.</p><blockquote>One step closer for: Dragon Speech Recognition is "Windows only". </blockquote><p><br></p><p><strong>But alas</strong>, Dragon Speech Recognition is seemingly (at least <strong>not</strong> officially) "Windows ARM" compatible. </p><blockquote>Knowing that Nuance, the company behind <span style="color: rgb(85, 85, 85);">Dragon Speech Recognition, was bought by Microsoft (in March of 2022) I say: H</span>ooray...š¤·š»āāļø</blockquote><p><br></p><p><strong>Question:</strong></p><blockquote>Does anyone have experience running <span style="color: rgb(85, 85, 85);">Dragon Speech Recognition (version 16) under (a) Windows 11 (ARM version), in P</span>arallels (on Apple silicon, M1, M2)? </blockquote><blockquote>Looking for real world (usage) feedback for this particular setup.</blockquote><p><br></p><p>Thanks (in advance) for getting this far reading my post š</p><p>Stay healthy,</p><blockquote>Mark</blockquote><blockquote>š³š± š</blockquote>
