You don't compare these products. Rancher creates and manages Kubernetes clusters like VMWare ESXi creates and manages virtual machines.

What is AWS Greengrass used for?

AWS Greengrass makes smart devices smarter and better by letting them process data locally before sending it to the cloud. This allows devices to process data faster and act on it much quicker without overloading the data stream with constant uploads from the device.
